ProRes 4444 with a real alpha channel

The top tier renders 4K ProRes 4444 with the background left transparent. Import the .mov, drop it over any footage, and the alpha channel does the compositing.

# render the top tier — quality "pro" is ProRes 4444 + alpha
curl -X POST https://api.pinwing.ai/v1/renders \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer pinwing_sk_…" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"modelId":"Ab3kF9x2qL1m","renderSettings":{"quality":"pro","length":6}}'

# when done: a resumable link straight from storage
curl -H "Authorization: Bearer pinwing_sk_…" \
  "https://api.pinwing.ai/v1/renders/RENDER_ID/download-url?asset=video&expires=86400"

Same flow in the studio: pick the ProRes tier and render.

Why this tier exists

H.264 earns its place on the feed, but it is a delivery format: gradients band under compression, fine edges soften, and there is no alpha channel, so a rendered model can only ever sit on the background it was rendered with. ProRes 4444 is an intermediate format. It preserves what the renderer actually produced, transparency included, and holds up through grading.

That turns a turntable render into an element: title sequences, product spots, broadcast graphics, projection surfaces. The model spins over whatever your timeline holds, and it grades along with the rest of the footage.

What arrives

  • •

video.mov the 3840×2160 ProRes 4444 master with alpha, served as video/quicktime.

  • •

web.mp4 an H.264 preview of the same render, for checking the motion without pulling gigabytes.

  • •

poster.png and thumb.mp4 the still and the looping thumbnail, same as every render.

  • •

One zip if you prefer the bundle endpoint streams all of it without server-side buffering, sized for ProRes.

ProRes 4444 — common questions

Yes. The ProRes master always carries the alpha channel; a background color, if you set one, is applied only to the web preview, thumbnail, and poster variants. The .mov itself stays transparent for compositing.
Large. A full-length 4K ProRes 4444 render runs to tens of gigabytes. The download-url endpoint returns a short-lived link straight from object storage, taking the API out of the data path. The link honors range requests, so an interrupted download resumes with curl -C - or any HTTP client that can pick up where it stopped.
ProRes 4444 is 64 credits per second, so the default 6-second turntable is 384 credits. Duration is capped at 60 seconds on this tier. The quote endpoint prices any settings object before you commit.
After Effects, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, and Final Cut all read ProRes 4444 alpha natively. Import the .mov and place it over any background; the transparency comes straight from the file, so there is no keying step to set up.

Camera paths, easing, and durations work the same on every tier — the turntable video page covers the motion side.

Every endpoint and setting is in the reference.
